This Healthy Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew is gluten free, dairy free, and refined sugar free. It’s a creamy, sweet, delicious copycat of the Starbucks seasonal favorite but made with only simple, whole ingredients! If you love having a pumpkin spice drink in the fall and want to save time and money, learning to make this is going to be a lifesaver.
Every year when Starbs rolls out their Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew, I get so excited. It makes me feel like Fall and spooky season (AKA my favorite time of the year) is officially upon us! While the Starbs Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew looks delicious, I always like to make my own version at home with REAL-food ingredients and leaving out the weird preservatives/unnecessary ingredients. Like most things, I think the homemade tastes EVEN better! Because we’re using fresh, whole ingredients instead of syrups for flavor this cold brew really packs in subtle pumpkin flavor, sweetness, and creaminess that can’t be matched. Let’s look at the list of ingredients of the traditional Starbs order vs this homemade version!
Starbucks Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew:
ICE, BREWED COFFEE, PUMPKIN CREAM COLD FOAM [CREAM (CREAM, MONO AND DIGLYCERIDES, CARAGEENAN), MILK, PUMPKIN SPICE SAUCE (SUGAR, CONDENSED SKIM MILK, PUMPKIN PUREE, CONTAINS 2% OR LESS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLE JUICE FOR COLOR, NATURAL FLAVORS, ANNATTO, SALT, POTASSIUM SORBATE), VANILLA SYRUP (SUGAR, WATER, NATURAL FLAVORS, POTASSIUM SORBATE, CITRIC ACID)], VANILLA SYRUP [SUGAR, WATER, NATURAL FLAVORS, POTASSIUM SORBATE, CITRIC ACID], PUMPKIN SPICE TOPPING [CINNAMON, GINGER, NUTMEG, AND CLOVES]
Mono and diglycerides is another word for trans fat. Carageenan. Lots of processed sugar. Natural flavors (equivalent to artifical flavors). Potassium sorbate is a preservative. All can be disruptive to the gut, hormones, and with the amount of sugar (a grande contains 31g of refined sugar) it can spike blood sugar. I enjoy ALL foods/drinks in moderation but this is not something you want to be consuming on a regular basis!
Ingredients in Calla’s Clean Eat’s Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew:
ICE, COFFEE, CASHEWS, PUMPKIN PUREE, PUMPKIN PIE SPICE, MAPLE SYRUP, SEA SALT.
Simple, balanced, and way less expensive to make at home. I think we all know the clear winner here! 👏

Why You’ll Love This
- SUPER simple – This cold brew is made with just six ingredients (and ones you can pronounce) unlike the traditional to-go option!
- Budget friendly – Once you have all of the ingredients at home, you’ll be able to have a Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew whenever you want without the cost of buying a new one at the coffee shop.
- Naturally sweetened – This is naturally sweetened with maple syrup so it’s refined sugar free and can be adjusted to your sweetness preference!
- Dietary friendly – This cold brew is completely gluten free, dairy free, vegan, paleo, and refined sugar free.
How To Make
- Coffee – You can buy cold brew at the store or brew coffee like normal, let it cool, and pour over ice.
- Cashew butter– I use the brand Artisana Organics (the only ingredient is cashews). You could also use almond butter, sunflower seed butter (for nut-free), coconut butter (another great nut-free option), or even peanut butter! Just look for a nut or seed butter with simple ingredients, preferably the only ingredient being the nut or the seed and maybe some salt.
- Pumpkin puree – Make sure to get 100% pure pumpkin puree, not pumpkin pie filling.
- Pumpkin pie spice – You can find pumpkin pie spice at almost any grocery store!
- Maple syrup – The maple flavor with pumpkin flavor creates the ULTIMATE fall goodness! You can always use honey as an alternative too.
- Sea salt
How To Make
- If not using store-bought cold brew, make your coffee and let it cool completely. (Tip: You can also use this creamer in hot coffee if you prefer!)
- In a high-speed blender, add all ingredients and blend until combined, frothy, and a light caramel color.
- Pour your coffee into a glass over ice. Pour in the blended pumpkin cream. Enjoy!

I made this recipe with almond butter (because I didn’t have cashew butter) and put in 2 extra tablespoons of pumpkin (because I love pumpkin) and it was really delicious! Thank you!
