This Protein Banana Bread is gluten free, high protein, and naturally sweetened. It has everything you could want in a cozy loaf โ easy to make, fluffy and soft, loaded with melty chocolate chips, and made with ingredients you probably already have at home. This bread might just become a part of your weekly routine too!
I go through periods of time when I have a recipe or a variation of it that I make every week. It becomes a part of my routine and something I donโt even think twice about! Sometimes itโs making a frozen treat for my freezer stash or meal prep egg bites, but one that I will ALWAYS come back to is making sure I have a fresh loaf of banana bread when Iโm home. Some of my favorites I make the most are my Cottage Cheese Banana Bread, Carrot Cake Banana Bread, and Double Chocolate Banana Bread. But after seeing this viral recipe on socials, I wanted to adapt it into something softer and super easy to throw together with ingredients I always have on hand. Safe to say, this Protein Banana Bread is my current favorite ๐
Itโs perfect fresh out of the oven with melty chocolate on top, but also somehow tastes even BETTER the next day straight from the fridge. Iโve been slicing it up for an easy snack or pairing it with my breakfast in the morning. Unlike most banana bread recipes that are loaded with different types of added sugars and donโt have as much fiber or protein to keep you from crashing, this loaf has a great balance of macros! Thereโs protein from the Greek yogurt, protein powder, and eggs, healthy fats from the Greek yogurt and eggs, and carbs from the bananas, honey, and oat flour. Youโre including all macros AND getting nutrients from whole food ingredients. All in one healthier snack โ thatโs a big win if you ask me ๐โโ๏ธ
With this balance of protein, healthy fats, and high fiber carbs, youโll feel full for longer, satisfied, and wonโt experience an energy crash after or have intense cravings. When you have those intense cravings after a snack, dessert, or meal, we usually call it the โsugar monsterโ but really itโs just your blood sugar lowering at a fast pace and signaling that it needs glucose (sugar) to get back up to a stable level. Our bodies are amazing at communicating to use what it needs in the way it know will get our attention. Weโve just connected this โsugar monsterโ as being โbadโ but the key is to really prioritize blood sugar balancing meals when we can!
This whole loaf makes eight thick slices and each slice has around 10g of protein depending on what protein powder you use. Store it in an air-tight container in the fridge for up to five days or freeze slices individually for longer. But I wonโt blame you if it doesnโt last that long!

- Naturally sweetenedย โย The spottier the bananas, the better in this recipe because that will increase the sweetness along with the added honey. Trust me though, thatโs all you really need!
- Everything is mixed in one bowl โ Mash, stir, pour into a pan, and bake. No extra dishes or cluttering the countertops with a ton of different bowls and tools.
- Customizable โ Adding chocolate chips is a classic for me but you can leave them out or add whatever you like. Throw in walnuts, pumpkin seeds, pecans, swirl in almond butterโฆ whatever youโre feeling!

What Youโll Need
- Bananasย โ Youโll want really spotty bananas for this recipe since we arenโt adding sugar or much sweetener aside from the honey. This will make the bread naturally sweeter!
- Greek yogurt โ This is what adds some sneaky protein and gives it a nice, fluffy texture. If youโre dairy free, you can try using a thick dairy free yogurt instead like Cocojune.
- Protein powder โ My favorite is Flavcity Vanilla Cream because itโs naturally sweetened and adds the best flavor. They offer both whey and plant based options! (code: CALLA)
- Eggs
- Honey โ This is my preferred natural sweetener for this recipe but you can use any liquid sweetener (maple syrup, agave, etc.)
- Oat flourย โ You can buyย premade flourย or make your own by blending oats, I like to useย One Degree Organic Gluten Free Oats!
- Cinnamon
- Sea salt
- Baking soda
- Chocolate chipsย โ Optional, but these are delicious mixed in and for topping!
How To Make
- Preheat the oven to 350F and line aย loaf panย withย parchment paper.
- In aย large bowl, mash the spotty bananas with a fork or potato masher. Then add the rest of the ingredients, except the chocolate chips, and mix well until a smooth batter forms.
- Gently fold in theย chocolate chipsย and mix well. (Tip: The chocolate chips are optional, you can add other mix-ins like crushed nuts, dried fruit, walnuts, etc.)
- Transfer the batter to the linedย loaf pan and top with extraย chocolate chips.
- Bake for 45 minutes or until the loaf has risen and is slightly golden.ย
- Let it cool completely, slice, and enjoy!

You can always add a little more sweetener or make sure bananas are very spotty for a natural sweetness ๐ค I don’t include nutrition info for posts but if you’re making this into 8 slices, each slice is about 10g of protein! You can add the ingredients to a nutrition calculator online for an estimate too
