My obsession for these last few months! This Apple Crisp is so simple, healthy, low sugar, and gluten-free + dairy-free. Perfect for dessert, a snack, breakfast, or even using as a topping for yogurt and oatmeal bowls.
I love topping it with whipped cream, coconut whip (the brand So Delicious is amazing!), or vanilla ice cream. In these photos, I used oat milk ice cream โบ๏ธ
Apple Crisp (easy + healthy)
Ingredients
For the apple filling
- 5 medium sized apples
- 1/4 cup maple syrup
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1/2 tbsp arrowroot flour (or tapioca starch or cornstarch)
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp allspice or nutmeg
- pinch sea salt
For the topping
- 1 cup rolled oats
- 1/2 cup gluten-free flour
- 1/4 cup chopped pecans
- 1/4 cup coconut sugar (or any sugar)
- 1/3 cup + 2 tbsp coconut oil (melted)
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- pinch sea salt
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350F.
- Slice apples and place them in an 8×8 baking dish. Mix filling ingredients in a bowl. Pour over apples and stir. Bake for 20 minutes.
- While the apples are baking, mix all of the toppingโs dry ingredients and then stir in coconut oil.
- Take apples out of oven, stir, add spoonfuls of topping, and bake another 25-30 minutes.

I made this last night and it turned out SO good. Honestly probably the best crisp I’ve ever had, and I feel like you could make it with pretty much any fruit. I’ll definitely be making this again!

I made this for my Tuesday morning bible study group and it was devoured and received rave reviews! There are several women in my group who are gluten free and all of us are working on eating a healthier diet, so this was absolutely perfect for feeding a group, a healthy option, and most of all absolutely delicious!
