These easy healthy cinnamon rolls are ready in less than one hour. They're low sugar, refined sugar free, higher protein, simple, and can be gluten free. dairy free, and vegan. On a small white plate is a single big round fluffy cinnamon roll coated in cream cheese frosting dripping down the sides. Perfectly round with brown filling showing through. The texture is soft, pillowy, fluffy, and mouth watering.

Easy, Healthier Cinnamon Rolls (Refined Sugar Free)

Ingredients

Dough:

  • 1 cup organic all purpose flour (or 1:1 gluten free flour)
  • 1 cup yogurt (or thick dairy free yogurt)
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 2 tbsp coconut sugar

Filling:

  • 1/3 cup coconut sugar
  • 1/4 cup melted coconut oil or butter
  • 1 tbsp cinnamon

Frosting:

  • 1/4 cup cream cheese (or dairy free cream cheese)
  • 2 tbsp maple syrup

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350F and lightly grease a round baking dish.
  • Make the dough. Mix together flour, baking powder, and coconut sugar.
  • Add in yogurt and mix again until a dough forms. It will be crumbly at first!
  • Place a sheet of parchment paper on the counter and sprinkle with a little bit of flour to prevent sticking.
  • Place dough onto parchment paper and sprinkle dough with more flour.
  • Roll the dough into a thin rectangle shape.
  • Make the filling. Mix together filling ingredients and pour onto dough. Let set for a couple of minutes.
  • Carefully roll the dough up, using the parchment paper to help.
  • Use dental floss, baker's twine, or carefully slice using a knife to slice the dough into 6 rolls.
  • Place all of the rolls into the greased round dish and bake 30-35min. Let cool for a couple of minutes.
  • Make frosting by mixing frosting ingredients until smooth.
  • Pour over cinnamon rolls, spread, and enjoy!
