March Recap

Life Update

Welp, there is no simple way to sum up these last few weeks. Things have been pretty crazy and at times scary. Here in Michigan, all non-essential businesses are closed and we’ve been advised to only travel when necessary for three weeks!

One thing I will say is, I’ve surprised myself with my ability to stay calm, positive, and happy on most days. But, of course, there have been a few days where I noticed feelings of anxiety, uncertainty, sadness, and frustration come up.

On those days, I have been making it a point to notice the feelings, accept that they are there, allow myself to feel them, and then do the best I can to provide myself comfort with small things like cooking a yummy meal, taking a hot shower, dry brushing, jade rolling, face masks, mediation, stretching, journaling, walking outside, lighting a candle and playing calming music, starting a new show, reading.

Even if I don’t feel better immediately, I remind myself that feelings come and go. 9.5 times out of 10, I wake up feeling much better the next day.

Sending you all a big hug (or an elbow bump??) during this time ❤️ things are going to get better!

My Favorite Immune Boosters

  • adaptogenic mushrooms (specifically chaga, maitake, and reishi)
  • vitamin c and zinc
  • oil of oregano
  • coconut oil/brain octane oil
  • good quality sleep (I am doing my best to stay on my normal sleep schedule)
  • rest
  • sunlight
  • ginger and turmeric
  • elderberry

Food and Recipes

  • plain sparkling water made with ginger, lemon, and raw honey (BUH-BYE “natural” flavors 👋)
  • super easy Mexican bowl with rice, beans, chicken, and salsa. Full recipe is in this post!
  • for lunch or dinner I’ve been loving a big bowl with bone broth rice, organic rotisserie chicken, sautéed mushrooms and spinach, avocado, and a creamy dressing. DE-LISH!
  • COOKIE MUG for somethin’ sweet
  • Chocolate Covered Peanut Butter Cookie Dough Balls for snackin’
  • salted macadamia nuts and baruka almonds for more snacks!
  • Green smoothie bowl. Recipe for this is on my Instagram as well.
  • homemade latte’s with coconut sugar and Homemade Cashew Creamer (here is the link for the nespresso I have and here is a link for another more affordable nespresso (and milk frother) that I have heard tons of amazing reviews on!

Exercise

To be honest, since social distancing began I’ve just been taking it one day at a time with exercise and I haven’t been pushing myself to work out when I don’t feel like it. I’ve been doing at-home workouts a few times a week (mainly low-intensity) with my mom (FlexCity, Barre Code, YouTube, and my own) and walking Maggie and that’s about it! But my mom stubbed her toe on the Roomba a couple days ago so I think I just lost my workout partner for this week 🤣 #PrayForLisa

Clothes and Products

As for clothes, I haven’t been wearing much other than joggers, sweatshirts, and slippers 😂

  • My favorite joggers
  • My slippers (these were a bit of a splurge but I’ve worn them every single day for the last year and a half. Honestly one of my best purchases)
  • I ordered this sherpa crewneck in black and just got it in the mail yesterday! AMAZING deal and so cute. And I mean, who doesn’t need more comfy clothes at a time like this??
  • Best hack ever that I just learned: order Adidas Ultraboosts in youth sizing to save major 💸 just size DOWN 1.5 (I’m an 8.5 in women’s and a 7 in youth… it works that way because youth sizing is the same as men’s sizing)

Other products I’ve been loving

  • My lemon juicer (especially with all of the fresh tea and sparkling water I’ve been drinking!
  • Daily Harvest. So convenient to have my freezer stocked with these as I’ve only been going to the store when absolutely necessary (discount code: “callascleaneats” gets you $25 off)
  • Primally Pure Body Butter. My hands have been SO dry from washing them so much and this has been the ONLY thing that helps (discount code: “callascleaneats”)

Podcasts

  • 3 meditations for when you’re feeling panicked from Gabby Bernstein (the MindBodyGreen podcast)
  • The Rachel Cruz show (all episodes… spending quarantine time learning more about finances 🤓)
  • Keto, Fiber, and Strong Women (Bulletproof Radio)
  • Episode 171 Melissa Wood Health (The Balanced Blonde)

I have lots of easy and healthy recipes, some at home workouts, YouTube video ideas, and more coming up this month so be on the lookout!!
