Let’s talk… COLLAGEN!

Let’s talk COLLAGEN! Probably one of my most requested topics 😬 how did I learn about collagen? Instagram! Instagram can actually be an amazing learning tool so I figured why not share my own experience here.

I actually remember when Vital Proteins was just starting up and they had a video all about collagen on their website. I remember showing my mom and thinking it was so cool! We ordered our first tub years and years ago and now collagen is EVERYWHERE! Pretty exciting if you ask me ☺️

Below, I have listed some benefits and why I personally take collagen. There may be more benefits than I have listed but the point of this blog post is to explain my own experience with it. And, of course, remember that I am not a doctor or a professional and it’s important that you do your own research to decide what is best for YOU!

Benefits I have experienced from taking collagen

  • healthier hair, skin, nails (I 100% notice a difference here)
  • easy, clean source of protein (some protein powders hurt my stomach but I have never had any issues with collagen)
  • good for bones, joints, muscles (I personally haven’t had too many issues here but my mom says she notices that she feels a lot stiffer in the morning when she is off of it for awhile)
  • gut health (helps to build/maintain strong gut lining which is really important for our health!)

My favorite way to take collagen is in my coffee. I blend up a bulletproof coffee every morning with a scoop of collagen. I have especially been loving Ancient Nutrition’s vanilla and chocolate collagens in my coffee because it makes my morning coffee taste like a fancy Starbucks latte without any sugar!

I also love adding collagen to oatmeal, baked goods, smoothies, or even tea for an extra protein boost. If you’re looking for a fun collagen recipe, check out my Sugar Cookie Collagen Energy Balls!

The unflavored collagen is tasteless and will easily dissolve into most liquids, making it pretty easy to add into your everyday routine!

I have listed my favorite collagen products below for you guys! I do make a (very) small commission through these links so if you do decide to try any of these products, I would greatly appreciate it if you bought them through these links! 🙏

Now, most importantly, do you NEED to supplement collagen to be healthy? No! Honestly, the best things that you can do for your health are eat real food, exercise, sleep, and manage stress. But I definitely think it can be beneficial and ADD to your health if it’s something you’re interested in trying. I (obviously) love it 😆
