It’s no secret by now that my love for cottage cheese runs deep and almost any viral recipe that I come across, I’m going to try it! Cottage cheese is such a versatile ingredient that’s filled with nutrients like protein, calcium, and healthy fats that make it a healthier alternative to many recipes like my Two Ingredient Cottage Cheese Wrap, Cottage Cheese Pizza Crust, and Cottage Cheese Pancakes. The best part is that by blending it with other ingredients, it takes on a smooth, creamy texture that makes it so easy to sneak into just about anything. I’ve tried just about every viral recipe, both savory and sweet, and this queso surprised me the most with how OBSESSED I became! It couldn’t be easier, all you have to do is blend, microwave, and wah-lah, a seriously addicting dip with 22 grams of protein per serving.
I’ve added my own twist to this viral recipe by adding salsa and shredded cheese. The salsa adds a subtle spice that’s perfectly blended into the queso so there’s a little heat but not too much (depending on what kind you add) and the shredded cheese packs an extra cheesy flavor. Because, who doesn’t love a little more cheese, right? 😆 I love making this when I have family or friends over and could see this being the perfect snack to have while watching weekend football or having a movie marathon.

- Cottage cheese – My favorites for any recipe are from Good Culture or Kalona Super Natural, both taste amazing and are top quality!
- Taco seasoning – I like a spicier taco seasoning but you can use whatever you like. I look for seasoning mixes that don’t have any additives like this one from Whole Foods or from Siete.
- Salsa – Use whatever spice level you want for this too! I love this spicy salsa added to mine for a little kick.
- Shredded cheese – Any kind will work, I used this grass-fed shredded Mexican blend or cheddar.
Ideas For Serving
- with tortilla chips (like these simple corn chips, grain-free, lime flavored, etc.)
- taco bowls (ground and seasoned taco meat, shredded lettuce, salsa or pico, chips on the side, and this queso)
- nachos, sweet potato nachos, or vegetable nachos
- with cut up vegetables (It’s SO yummy with any vegetable and a great way to use what’s left in the fridge)
How To Make
- In a high-speed blender or food processor, add the cottage cheese, taco seasoning, and salsa. Blend until combined.
- Pour the mixture into the small bowl with the shredded cheese and mix well.
- Microwave for 45 seconds and stir to combine.
- Serve and enjoy!
