Chocolate Raspberry Protein Oatmeal

This Chocolate Raspberry Protein Oatmeal is the perfect breakfast to keep you fueled all morning long! It contains protein from the protein powder, complex carbohydrates from the oats, and is naturally sweet (but low in sugar!) thanks to banana and protein powder.

I have been LOVINGGG the combination of fruit + chocolate lately which is actually very odd for me. Typically, I am strictly a vanilla, chocolate, peanut butter, etc. flavor kinda gal when it comes to sweets 🤔 I guess my taste buds are changing as I get older because I have been craving fruiter treats lately! PS. check out my Healthy Apple Crisp (it is amazeeee!)

I have to say, this breakfast is *almost* as good as dessert. And breakfast for dessert is right up my alley! Hope you guys love it!

What you need…

  • Oats— I typically go for organic because conventional oats contain high levels of glyphosate
  • Chia seeds— for extra fiber and also to make the oats thicker!
  • Banana— I like using a spotty banana for extra sweetness. You can also sub maple syrup, honey, coconut sugar, or brown sugar to taste. I don’t recommend completely skipping the sweetener unless you enjoy bittersweet chocolate (hey, to each their own!)
  • Chocolate protein powder— see below for my recommendations. If you want to skip the protein, simple add a little bit of extra sweetener and cocoa powder.
  • Almond milk— yes, you can sub in any type of milk. Coconut, oat, cashew, or regular are all great!
  • Sea salt— do not skip sea salt in your oats! Trust me

What kind of protein powder do you recommend?

My favorite protein powders are Sprout Living and Nuzest. Sprout Living is organic, includes superfoods, and doesn’t contain natural flavors while Nuzuest is a bit more affordable and still only contains simple ingredients. I personally switch back and forth between the two!

Do I have to use protein powder?

Nope! Simply skip the protein and add a little bit of extra sweetener and cocoa powder. You also may need slightly less liquid because the protein powder absorbs some of it. You can also use vanilla protein powder and keep the same amount of sweetener and add only extra cocoa powder.

Can I make a larger batch and enjoy this recipe for a few days?

Absolutely! I am all about prepping ahead (aka less work each morning!). I recommend making no more than 3-4 servings at once so that it stays fresh.

Can I switch up the toppings?

Of course! I love adding granola for a crunch (I always need a crunch with my oats!) and like I mentioned before, I am just loving the berries + chocolate combination lately. This recipe would be delicious with peanut or almond butter, shredded coconut, any type of fruit, or even chocolate chips as toppings 😊
