8 Tips for Growing Long, Strong, and Healthy Hair!

To my surprise, (I’m so flattered 😭) I receive quite a few messages asking what I do to keep my hair long, strong, and healthy! I figured I’d share some of my tips here. I’m not an expert but I’m happy to share what I’ve learned over the years and what has worked for me 💯 if you have any others, drop them in the comments 💆‍♀️💇‍♀️💁‍♀️

Tip #1: go easy on heat products – I try to limit any heat products to 3-4x a month (or less) but I know that’s not possible for everyone… but even if you skip blow drying and use only flat iron/curler or vice versa, that’s a start!

Tip #2: coconut oil hair masks – I try to do these 1x per month. My hair feels SO soft and healthy afterward. I just coat my hair in coconut oil (especially focusing on the ends), put it up in a bun with a scrunchie, and leave for at least 1 hour. Then wash like normal!

Tip #3: maintaining a healthy diet including lots of healthy fat (avocado, extra virgin olive oil, coconut oil, egg yolks, etc.) + high quality protein (grass-fed beef, lamb, bison, organic chicken and eggs, wild salmon, etc.) + a variety of colorful fruit and veg 🌈 and eating ENOUGH is crucial.

Tip #4: add in collagen if you can! I have a whole blog post on collagen including my favorite products and brands if you’re interested 🙌🏼

Tip #5: don’t overwash – it dries your hair out! I try to wash every 2-3 days. Or every other if I get super sweaty 😅😂

Tip #6: trims – I aim for 3 per year to keep the ends from breaking off.

Tip #7: color – I basically never color my roots. Just blend some highlights through the bottom, that way I only have to color 1-2x a year or less.

Tip #8: be gentle with it! Invest in a silk pillow case (I bought mine on amazon), don’t brush super rough, avoid too many tight ponies/buns (loose braids and loose low ponies are better), use scrunchies!

I hope that’s helpful! xo
